Affiliate Marketing: Tips On How To Spot A Scam

Many of us want new jobs with new opportunities. We are either bored with what we are doing at the moment and desire new challenges, or dislike the place we are currently working and desperately want a change. Many of us would love to run our own businesses. The freedom and independence that this brings, answering only to you and working when you want is an incredibly desirable thing. However, the reality of this materializing is slim to none in most people’s cases. Most of us don’t have the capital required to start a small business. Others are frightened off by the risk factor involved. Your steady income will be gone as well as the fact that nearly 90 % of all new businesses fail within the first year.

Affiliate marketing is a way around the risk and start up costs. Affiliate marketing costs nothing to join and the risk is minimal. You paid according to what you produce and not according to how the company is performing. There are many wonderful affiliate programs for you to get involved with, however as with anything one needs to be cautious.

Unfortunately, today we live in an age of internet and business fraud. Countless people loose large sums of money on these home business scams. Unfortunately, the world of affiliate marketing is not immune to this. While it is impossible to list every precaution a person should take, there are some signs that people can look for. These don’t always mean that the company is fraudulent but they should be looked into carefully.

Many lull themselves into a false sense of security when it comes to affiliate marketing programs. They feel that, there is no cost to them money wise so they have nothing to loose. However, this isn’t true. You may get away with no money being lost but you could lose loads of your next most precious commodity, that being time. You’re going to have to work very hard to build up your affiliate marketing business so you will want to be legitimate.

You should definitely ask the company for testimonials. Don’t rely on the ones that they post on their website. Anyone could have written these. Ask for names and addresses of people that you can contact to find out how the program worked for them. You can also try searching on your favorite search engine. By looking under scams or the company name, you’ll have a good chance of digging up any dirt that is there.

Read the testimonials carefully. If you find a few bad reviews, this shouldn’t put you off. Sometimes people just are not cut out for certain programs. If there is more good than bad then things are likely okay. You can also use these testimonials for advice on what to do and what not to do.

If you have problems finding information then this should be a warning. Good affiliate programs will have been around for a while and will have a track record. Resist the temptation to join up while the offer is still hot. If it is a good program it will still be there in 6 months time. If the product or service is worth having, there will still be plenty of profit to make out of it.

The lure of running our own businesses attracts many. However, the reality of what is involved stops most of us before we get started. Affiliate marketing is a way to work for you without the financial risk. There are many great affiliate marketing programs in existence today. However, there are also many companies that are fraudulent. When deciding who to go with, check for testimonials. Use the internet to dig up the dirt. Check the company’s track record. No track record at all can be as bad as a negative record. Beware of new companies. If they are worth it they will still be there in a few months time.

It will help you to avoid the numerous scams that are out there. Although there are many legit affiliate marketing companies and programs, there are just as many scams. So read the article and remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

How To Avoid That Affiliate Marketing Scam

You have finally decided that the 9-5 day job isn’t for you. Your tired of your work being undervalues and underappreciated. You would like to work when you feel you are most productive, not when some boss or manager feels it is so. You are also tired of working hard with no incentive or reward scheme in place.

Affiliate marketing programs are perfect for those people who are motivated and self starters. They are also great for those who want to set their own working hours.

The internet has helped up change so many aspects of our lives. We can study and work from home with the help of a computer and high speed internet access. However, there are unfortunately lots of scammers out there ready to take either your money or your work to use for their benefit. Many of these email scam programs and work at home schemes have little hope of amounting to any kind of living.

Unfortunately, these scammers have made their way into the world of affiliate marketing as well. There are some excellent affiliate marketing programs to get involved with; the trick is how to spot the scammers.

The face and manner of the internet and affiliate marketing is constantly changing. This makes it very difficult to produce a definitive list of do’s and don’ts. However, there are some signs that one can look for. If your company displays any of these signs it does not mean for sure that they are con artists. However, it should warrant further investigation.

An affiliate marketing program should always provide you with some support. This can include an agent that you can contact with questions or problems. A legitimate company should want you to do well. The better you do the better they do. It should at very least contain a toll free phone number, email address and fixed street address. If your company is an online affiliate marketing program, the lack of an email or web page should definitely raise some red flags. Other things such as no phone or address do not mean necessarily that they are trying to scam you. However, you need to investigate them with a fine tooth comb.

A good test is to send the company an email with some basic questions. If it takes them weeks to get back to you then you need to give this venture careful consideration. Again, they may not be out to con you but if they are poor at communication, this could be a sign of other internal problems.

If the company has no website then you should consider something else. Legitimate affiliate marketing programs generally have a detailed website with all the information you need. One should be suspicious of companies that operate only by email. A website is fairly easy to create so why hasn’t this company invested the time to do so? Also, a website leaves a bit more of a trail to a company. If they do end up scamming you, the chances of tracing the people via a website are much better then tracing them through masses of email addresses.

Many of us would love the opportunity to work for ourselves. We would love to chuck in the day job and start our own businesses. However, the costs of starting a business combined with the risk involved stop most of us before we even get started. Affiliate marketing is a great way to make some money by working for yourself. The costs are none and the risk minimal. One needs to use some caution when signing onto a program. Make sure there is adequate support available to you. Make sure the company is contactable and that they answer queries in a timely fashion. Be incredibly cautious of companies that have no website. These factors do not always mean that the company is out to scam you; however they should be looked at carefully.

The first website I had to get up and running was called Affiliate Millions. This site is a collection of videos, mp3 recordings and pdf transcripts of the video collection. Following the instructions on the videos by Michael Cheney, it really was not all that hard. You really just have to do exactly what he tells you to do, even if you don’t totally understand the reasons right now.

So like I said, this site contains instruction videos on affiliate marketing explaining how a newbie affiliate marketer can grab their share of the growing commissions earned from online marketing. Michael Cheney provides ten bonus mp3 recordings of the videos and ten pdf transcripts of the videos as well.

Affiliate Millions truly is a great affiliate marketing guide for beginners who are tired of the confusing lingo and seemingly complicated instructions. Sorry its been a bit since I last posted but its been a busy time around here. We had an eightieth birthday party for my Mom. It was a fun time, my Mom has eight children , seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Add in the spouses, cousins, friends and you end up with quite a crowd, but my Mom really enjoyed the day which is what it was all about. My kids just got back from their summer camps, my son from football camp and my daughter from gymnastics. So of course I had to spend lots of time with them since I missed them so much.

Anyway I have gotten back to the computer and have been going through the Social Traffic Explosion program. I have just set up my myspace account and have been working on my profile. Please check it out at

What newbies need are to be taken by the hand and shown what to do and how, thats what this no mind needed. That is what I have found with Michael Cheney. Not only is he trying to make money for himself, which he does quite readily, he is one of the few internet marketing gurus that actually gives you all the information that you need to do the same. And believe me he does not hold back, but don’t expect to turn into a millionaires over night. You will have to put in more time than you think, because no matter how easy someone says it is, this stuff doesn’t get done by itself. Especially if your a newbie and don’t have much capital to begin with, your going to have to put in more time at your computer than some one with lots of money.

So I have now put myself in Michael’s hands and I fully believe he will deliver on his end as long as I do my part and get off my arse.
Basically, I had to set up five premade websites that sell products developed for the internet marketer to learn how to drive traffic to their websites and a blog where I am to write about internet marketing to help drive traffic to these moneysites.
Now your probably wondering how a newbie would know how to develope a website to do these things, well Michael Cheney has shown me how to do it all, from the very beginning to the end using videos, mp3’s, and ebooks. He also gave me links to other programs that I needed to do some of this and most were free.

Ok, the first thing I did was login to the Automatic Income System members area. If you missed what AIS is it is the product I purchased from MC, which included the above mentioned sites and a members area containing a collection of internet marketing products that Michael Cheney has previously developed and sold.
I then watched the start here video. From there on I just watched the videos in order and everything was explained. What I had to do first was find and purchase domain names for each of the 5 initial sites, 4 moneysites and 1 blog. Once that was done I had to purchase a hosting account to put my sites on.
At the beginning I did not know how to do any of this, but Michael explained every step in his videos. And believe me, I did not understand everything he was talking about, but I didn’t have too. I just did what he showed me and it worked. I am not going to go into the fine details of doing this here, but if your interested and need more info on this check out Start Your Profits Today. This is one of the exact programs I am working thru right now. I do actually plan to write a review of that product, as soon as I find time, ya right!

I do admit I had a few problems along the way, but they were quickly taken care of by the awesome help desk that Michael has set up, and believe me this fellow needs to have things explained a couple of times before his brain will absorb it.

Hopefully in my next post I can start reviewing each of my internet marketing sites for you. I will also be writing about the different products I will be using in my internet business, the majoriy of course being internet marketing products from Michael Cheney.

Well, I got that new website up and it was relatively painless to do. I’ve decided to write about this new product from Michael Cheney now instead of going over the adventure of setting up the first 4 moneysites and this blog.

Hello, welcome to my first post at onlinewithgeorge.com. This is where I plan to keep track of everything I do online using Michael Cheney’s Automatic Income System and everything else I do with internet marketing from this date forward. It has taken me quite awhile to even get to the point of having a blog, let alone use it to get the traffic to my other sites. This is the social traffic that everyone is talking about. And yes I have other sites, new ones and old ones that have cost me too much money over time. But I have finally figured out that I have to stick to one guru at a time. It is way too confusing when you end up all over the map on internet marketing ideas from all the big players. Total brainfreeze is what I think my daughter called it.

So I have decided to pick one that I have watched for the last couple of years. His name is Michael Cheney and he seems like a decent guy that knows his stuff. I hope to finally make some headway into making some money using the internet. Starting now I will be using Michael Cheney’s products to see if he truly delivers on what he preaches.

My next few postes will bring you up to date on what I had to do with this product to get to this point. Believe me I have been at this since I bought the AIS on June 11, 2008, so its been about a month to get here. Not sure if that took too long, but I do have a so called real job that sucks up my time and a family that drives me crazy as well.
